INTSHOLO is the sound of a new
nation. Two groups night and day apart, but when they
come together, it is like nothing the world has heard
before!
INTSHOLO - Five former members
of the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra have teamed
up with the renowned African marimba group, Phambili,
to form a visual and aural representation of the emerging
South Africa. Intsholo, or beautiful sounds in Xhosa,
represents a successful combining of forces resulting
in the most refreshing new sound on the market. Having
performed extensively throughout South Africa, Intsholo
has begun to break into the international market with
recent performances at the Olympics in Atlanta, as
well as at a music festival in Norway.
Though Intsholo has performed extensively
throughout South Africa, we have just begun to break
into the international market with recent performances
at the Olympics in Atlanta and at a South African
music festival in Norway.
Note what has been said about Intsholo
in recent concerts in Norway;
“... The intensity of the players
was irresistible! It became a lesson in musical communication,
and on the stage were white and black performers,
a visible proof of the spirit of cooperation, and
a reminder that the real and original has a power
to overcome.” Astenposten, Sunday, August 11,
1996.
